Sunday I went with a group from the school to Windsor Castle and it was awesome! It was a gorgeous sunny day when we left. Windsor has been an active castle for over 900 years. The Queen's family crest flag was blowing in the wind, which meant she was there. It was so cool to know we were in the castle at the same time as the Queen! Since it is an active castle, we didn't get to see very much, only about a quarter of it. What we could see was great and fairly recent. It was so different than everything else we have seen because it is more modern and the royal life we could relate to. We saw pictures of Prince William and Prince Harry and little boys, so cute! We saw a guard and we took pictures with it, but we were told not to touch him or he would get mad, so we kept a safe distance away. We also found it very funny that planes were flying so close to the castle. You would think there would be a no fly zone over it.
The castle is in the cutest little town, however when we left the palace it was pouring rain..You can never count on the weather here! We hurried to a cute little pizza place and it was very yummy. After we sat in Starbucks for about an hour, trying to stay warm and away from the wetness outside.
It has been a little cold and rainy ever since so we are hoping to see sun soon, the weather channel told us we would. Cross your fingers!
Me and the guard. What a tough job! |
